We had a long but successful day at the Ruth Marske Invite in Brookings, SD. We had an opportunity to compete in a great facility with some of our veteran athletes against some very strong SD and Iowa schools.
Highlights included a win from our sprint medley relay 2-2-4-8 of Jack Hoaby, Nate Hoglund, Charlie Voller and Matt Baloun.
Our 4x100 (Hoaby, Tyler Jassman, Ryder Beckman, Hoglund) and 4x200 (Hoaby, Beckman, Voller, Hoglund) relay teams finished 2nd in very competitive races to a team from Iowa.
Mikhale Maier had an impressive day in the hurdles finishing 7th in the 300H and 10th in the 110H both with PR times.
Tyler Jassman picked up a 7th in the TJ and Noah Lanka was 8th in the PV.

We have great numbers and a productive week to start the 2017 season. Good mix of veterans and new faces that are all working hard. Going to be a fun season!
We will be taking a group of about 20 athletes to an indoor meet at SDSU in Brookings, SD on March 25. Athletes will be informed next Monday/Tuesday if they are going. We will depart on Friday 3/24 at 2:00 and stay over Friday night to compete on Saturday 3/25. Athletes will need to pay $20 to offset costs of Friday night pizza and a Jimmie Johns box lunch for Saturday along with transportation costs. Hotel rooms will be covered by our booster acct.
Athletes will need money for any beverages they may purchase along with a meal (fast food) after the meet before we return home. Anticipated return to Monticello is midnight on Saturday.

For our track fundraiser we host a 5K Run/Walk at the Community Center. How you can help us is by participating and/or helping to recruit others to participate. This is a pretty low key event so walkers or runners of any ability are welcome and appropriate. Spend some time outside and support T & F, win - win.

Practice starts Monday, March 13 at 3 PM in the Field House. Make sure you are officially registered for the team by Monday or you CANNOT practice. You can register online through your portal of you can register with the correct signed papers in the activity office. If this is your first sport of the school year you will have several forms to complete and pay the activity fee. If you have already been in a sport this year, you will just need to update your emergency form and pay the fee.
You must also have a current physical on file. These last for 3 years. Please check with the office if you are not sure if you have a current physical.
Activity fee is $160 with a family cap of $750 for the year. If the fee is a concern, please see Mr. Revenig if other arrangements can be made.
Also, you should have good shoes to practice in. These should be running shoes and not basketball shoes or general court shoes. These should not be shoes used in a previous season as they will have lost support to protect you from injury.
Please be prepared and have all of this taken care of by Monday so you don't have to miss any practices.
